A Message for the Tumblr Staff

Look I don’t know if they’ll ever read this or even give a damn about my opinion but I’ve got to at least try.

I’m sorry about all the hardships that you’ve had to deal with lately. I know it’s not easy to run a massive platform like this. We all stumble and make mistakes. But this is not the way to go.

This ban on external links is going to make content creators suffer. They’re just trying to promote their work. A lot of great blogs and just blogs that people love are being taken down because of this. I get that you’re trying to eliminate the porn bots and other inappropriate blogs, but they exist on ALL social media sites. Unfortunately they’ll never be gone completely as long as there are people who can find ways to hack the system. The best thing to do is control them as much as you can. Tell people how to know a bot when they see one, and if they do to report and/or block them immediately. It’s what I’ve been doing ever since I’ve been on this site.

And now a personal message. I might be jumping the gun a bit here, but PLEASE do not kill Tumblr. Despite its reputation and numerous problems, I still love this site. It’s meant a lot to me over the past year. I’ve met so many wonderful people through fandom blogs and found some absolutely amazing art, writings, and gifs. I hope I speak for a lot of us in saying that there won’t be another Tumblr, so we have to protect and save it as much as we can.

Thank you for all your efforts, but we can’t stop now. We will protect Tumblr in any way we can. Just trust us.
