“Sometimes you bleed for who you are, it’s hard to love with a heart full of scars. I won’t feed into your dark. I’ll keep loving with a heart full of scars.” – Rebecca Black
Two years ago the horrific tragic attack at Pulse Nightclub occurred. Two years ago I watched as my friends I’ve known my whole life and the entire LGBTQ+ community was shaken and forever changed by a single man’s hate. And since then I’ve watched as they’ve grown stronger and become more themselves in spite of his actions. They continue to spread love and hope and acceptance to all despite this tragic event.
I’m proud of my friends and the entire LGBTQ+ community for standing up and not being silenced by this and for proving that Love always wins. For proving that Love trumps hate. And for proving that they are better than and stronger than anyone could ever imagine.
Something my friend said after the shooting has stuck with me and it’s something everyone needs to remember: “Now is the time to be more so yourself, as you possibly can be.” Continue to shine. Continue to love. Continue to be strong. Love will always win. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤💕
