Because this just ruins years of hard work by GIF-makers. 99.9% of the gifs and images in tumblr are resized to 500px wide because it was tailored that way for years. Since this update, all of the images now look grainy, and the quality has been decreased drastically. There are blogs who solely create gifs and all of their effort is now all in vain.

Because some users use this site specifically for their photography and graphic designs and the new format could disrupt their work and make it impossible for them to sell.

I don’t want the people who spend valuable time making content for this website to stop because of something like a dimension change. Years of work has been ruined just for the heck of it. Tumblr staff stated that they changed the dimension size just because. Which means they can change back because we are asking them to, and no one asked for the change in the first place. Please respect the work your users have done and change the dimensions back.

I run a blog called welovetemplates. Currently we are the LONGEST running template blog on tumblr. We provide all graphic designers and giffers templates and ideas on how to present/display their work on your website. Every update tumblr has done I’ve been okay with it/adjusted to it.
But this post thing is different than the rest of the updates you’ve done. I understand the need and sleekness for wider posts but doing this ruins 564 templates that every admin (including myself) that took their time to create and design. A good handful are extremely intricate and cannot be adjusted/recreated to fit the 540 width size.
This scares me because over 17k+ people come to this blog for help and inspiration for photoshop/photosets. This is the one thing I’m not sure if I’ll be able to help them with since most of the templates their aren’t even my own. In a sense, you are basically shutting down are blog.
Tumblr Staff if you have any decency please just go back to 500px posts and keep the sticky header. Please, this is the only thing I’ve ever asked of you. I am hoping you’ll reconsider the change.
